2nd Quarter Morphemes

M.O.W. 2nd Quarter
Morpheme: Mono
Word: monorail
Definition: a type of railroad that uses a single track which is usually high off the ground; a vehicle that travels on a monorail
Sentence: Monorails connect different parts of the park.

Morpheme: Quad
Word: Quadruplets
Definition: one of four babies that are born at the same time to the same mother
Sentence: There are four of them, fraternal quadruplets, Mimi and Emma, Alex and Ryan

Morpheme: Medi
Word: Mediate
Definition: to work with opposing sides in an argument or dispute in order to get an agreement
Sentence: He is attempting to mediate a settlement between the company and the striking workers.

Morpheme: Equi
Word: Equitable
Definition: just or fair : dealing fairly and equally with everyone
Sentence: They reached an equitable settlement of their dispute.

Morpheme: Homo
Word: Homogeneous
Definition: made up of the same kind of people or things
Sentence: In their natural state, mountains of this type are almost entirely covered by dense forest. The wooded landscape is very uniform, lacking in contrast, and any disturbance of the homogeneous green blanket is very obvious.

Morpheme: Hyper
Word: Hyperactive
Definition: extremely active or too active
Sentence: She suggested he was hyperactive and that he cannot sit still in class.

Morpheme: Tran
Word: transcript
Definition: written, typewritten, or printed copy; something transcribed or made by transcribing.
Sentence: Her full name has been omitted from the transcript to protect her

Morpheme: Bio
Word: Biography
Definition: a written account of another person's life

Sentence: This is a book for every American—a masterpiece of biography.
